Restoration of a Georgian Revival
The Barder House
Fully restored to its magnificent original condition, the Bryon R. Barder House is once again a gem in Akron, Ohio.
Built in 1919 as a large Georgian Revival residence, the three-story building was in a state of extensive decay and neglect. Incompatible materials including vinyl tile, acoustic ceilings, and gypsum board partitions had been added to the interior. Deterioration included leaking roofs, peeling paint, tarnished chandeliers, and overgrown plantings.
The building was completely restored to its original condition by previous owners Braun & Steidl Architects (now an affiliate of PRIME AE). The process of restoration culminated with the Bader House’s placement on the National Register of Historic Places.
