Stormwater GIS Geodatabase
Stormwater GIS
The Lawrence SWCD invested in an accurate storm water GIS geodatabase to give themselves the necessary tools and resources to comply with Ohio EPA MS4 permit requirements. A comprehensive storm sewer system map was developed, showing the location of all outfalls and the names and location of surface waters of the state that receive discharges from those outfalls. An added benefit included better management of their assets and resources.
A phased approach was utilized. The first phase designed and implemented a geodatabase of existing GIS data. The second phase collected additional feature locations using GPS and integrated this data into the geodatabase. The third phase trained Lawrence SWCD staff on the methods and techniques for maintaining the data and integrating additional GIS data that will be collected in the future.
