Southland Christian Church (Southland) is a multi-site church community with locations across Kentucky. When Southland launched a new location in Georgetown, the congregation began gathering at a local elementary school. As the congregation grew, Southland decided to construct a permanent facility in Georgetown to support their expanding ministries and. acquired several acres locally within the mixed-use Amerson Orchard Development for the new site.
Given our long-standing involvement in the planning, design, and construction of the overall Amerson Orchard Development, Southland chose PRIME AE to assist with the planning and zoning process and civil site engineering. Leveraging our contextual design and local knowledge, we collaborated with the church and the community to create a space that served Southland’s needs.
Southland’s Georgetown Campus consists of the church building and an expansive parking lot to accommodate congregants and church staff. With a focus on maximizing parking capacity, PRIME AE integrated green infrastructure elements within the parking lot. Through the design and implementation of bioinfiltration swales and vegetated channels, we significantly improved the stormwater runoff quality from the site. The improved water quality directly and positively impacted the downstream Cane Run waterway.
Our team’s deep expertise, community knowledge, and commitment to our client contributed to the expansion of a church that serves as an asset to both its congregation and the wider community it calls home.
