Roberta’s House Family Support Center

Roberta’s House Family Support Center

A beacon of healing

Situated in the heart of Baltimore City, the Roberta’s House Family Support Center stands as a beacon of healing and resilience. This cutting-edge facility, positioned at the former site of a founding member’s home, serves as an essential community hub committed to promoting healing and preventing grief as a public health initiative.

Designed to accommodate a wide spectrum of needs, the facility’s main level offers inviting public spaces—a front porch, a cozy living room, a community theater, a versatile engagement area, and an interactive game room. Ascending to the second level reveals dedicated counseling and activity spaces, including specialized areas for youth activities, a computer lab, and a sound-insulated expression room. Additionally, this level hosts various counseling and family rooms, complemented by an outdoor terrace, fostering a comprehensive approach to healing.

The third level houses administrative offices, volunteer spaces, a break room, and an executive conference room with outdoor access, fostering an environment conducive to the work of staff and volunteers. Throughout the building, gathering spots along corridors showcase memory quilts and donor memorials, creating an ambiance filled with warmth, vibrant hues, and natural light—a haven of comfort and joy for families.

Externally, the architecture pays tribute to local design elements, featuring two-tone brickwork, painted woodwork, and Baltimore bullnose-cased windows in rich plum tones. The facade’s intricate details, including Doric columns and decorative eave brackets, mirror the elegance of a Baltimore mansion.

Roberta’s House, established in loving memory of Julia Roberta March by Erich March and Annette March-Greir, embodies their compassionate vision. Together with our team, their dream has manifested into a sanctuary fostering healing and hope within Baltimore’s heart.

Project Achievements

Every project we undertake serves as a wellspring of knowledge and experience, feeding our collective growth and paving the way to optimize outcomes, leverage efficiencies, foster collaboration, and advance innovation. Throughout the journey of this project, these accomplishments have been instrumental in its overall success and have fortified our collective expertise.

  • The team focused on building sustainability in compliance with Maryland’s rigorous green building and energy efficiency regulations. The design maximized function and staff use, while also maintaining security and access control throughout the building and vertical circulation.
  • Our team helped to develop a building program and schematic design, and later architectural designs, specifically to support the non-profit organization’s mission and facilitate the unique array of services offered by the center.
