Congregation's History and Artifacts Blended into a Contemporary Motif
Replacement Facility
The oldest Methodist congregation in Akron constructed this new 37,000 square foot religious complex to replace a facility that was destroyed by fire in May of 1994. Key to the project was the analysis of adjacent properties not affected by the fire.
Ultimately, the decision was made to raze all surviving buildings onsite, consolidate property, and focus on a comprehensive plan that honored the church’s mission as a congregation, addressing and serving issues of the urban environment.
The Congregation’s past history and saved artifacts have been blended into a contemporary motif that will serve the community for the foreseeable future.
