New Market Elementary School, located in New Market, Maryland, was constructed using radically different building technologies spanning more than 50 years and was developed in three distinct phases with the last intervention taking place nearly 40 years ago. This historical development approach resulted in a dense layout for certain program areas, open-plan classrooms in other sections, and complex circulation patterns throughout the building.
Over the course of three phases of site development, the school saw additions made at both ends to accommodate full-day kindergarten and expand the cafetorium.
