Consolidation of Six Commands into One
Marine Forces Reserve Headquarters
PRIME AE provided project management, programming, design of interior architecture, and roof consulting services as part of a design-build team for a new 411,000 square foot Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES) Headquarters facility, consolidating six commands into one. The project was a Public Private Partnership (P3) with stakeholders including the Department of Defense, the State of Louisiana, and private developers.
The facility houses a wide variety of uses including secure areas, command center, executive suites, courtroom, weapons simulator, data center, and training areas. After design completion, PRIME was retained for validation of design, purchase and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment valued at $30M, and managed the entire move including seat mapping and a swing plan. The building meets LEED® certification requirements.
The extreme complexity of the project required careful scheduling. PRIME AE developed a master schedule to coordinate all project-related activities. The project start was delayed for six months, yet the end date did not change. The design was completed two months ahead of schedule, the project remained ahead of schedule throughout construction, and the Marines moved in to the facility early.
