The FedEx Ground distribution center in Jacksonville, FL is a massive warehouse encompassing administrative space, a separate vehicle maintenance facility, and a large gateway building. All three structures use conventional steel frames with load bearing, precast concrete tilt-wall panels. PRIME AE worked with the design-build team to provide all site civil engineering, landscape services, final design, and permitting for the busy distribution center.
PRIME AE partnered with the client to overcome unique challenges posed by the large facility. As a result of the site’s swampy terrain, we oversaw the design and construction of a 10-acre stormwater pond for stormwater management, dewatering, soil remediation and to generate fill to overcome the high natural groundwater elevation. Our team also successfully sought an administrative deviation to more than triple the amount of parking allowed by the city’s current code requirement to accommodate the large number of employees.
The outcome is a thriving business hub that fosters the economic well-being of the region.
