As the recognized leader in the region for providing educational opportunities in trades, nursing, and STEM, Daytona State College embarked on a master planning process aimed at building an achievable path for growth. Located along the fast-growing I-4 corridor between Orlando and Daytona is the 100-acre Deltona campus that helps meet the local demand for academic programs. Members of PRIME AE’s team devised a master plan that respected the topography, environmentally sensitive lands, and the community while creating a methodology for growth that is a beacon for the area.
Our approach created an integrated, “front-facing” campus that responded to regional community and business needs. We planned a measured, consensus-built approach to development in partnership with the Board of Trustees that accounted for flexibility in academic offerings, technological changes in instructional delivery methods, and a walkable campus open to all. The 5-year plan called for a new classroom building focused on nursing and STEM education, a student collaboration center, and a recreation complex. Also included was a revised environmental permitting process to maintain the Scrub Jay population (an endangered species) while facilitating the long-term vision of the campus master plan.
Our partnership with Daytona State College advanced the goals of the school, connecting it to the surrounding community and creating a cohesive vision for the area.
