Serving as the focal point of the community, the Broadview Heights Community and Recreation Center provides something for everyone in the greater Cleveland area of Ohio. Seeking to provide its residents with a central place to gather and interact, this addition and renovation to the center seamlessly blended community and recreation areas of the building.
PRIME AE served as the Architect of Record for this unique venue, where the top floor contains the city’s administrative offices and departments, and the bottom half is home to the recreation center with a multi-level double court gym, an elevated track, an aquatic center containing a pool with slides, a lazy river, zero-depth entry area, a spa, steam room sauna, and expanded fitness areas and locker rooms.
Sharing recreational and city government space presented a challenge which PRIME AE was well prepared to address. The renovation controls movement between the recreation and City Hall areas of the building by integrating all floors visually with an open connecting stairway. The project was built with a Construction Manager at Risk delivery method. Because of PRIME AE’s dedicated work, the recreation center was opened ahead of schedule and remains a vital focal point for the community of Broadview Heights. The campus is now a regional destination for those seeking recreation.
