At a young age, Terri developed a keen interest in the field of engineering. She recalled, “Growing up, I knew I wanted to build and design stuff. I almost went into architecture, but I’m not creative enough for that,” she joked. Terri shared that after graduating from the University of Kentucky, she delved into her professional career, focusing primarily on roadway design ever since. Her extensive portfolio includes roads, sidewalks, multi-use trails, etc. When asked about her favorite aspect of design, Terri promptly responded, “Without a doubt, my favorite projects involve creating new roads rather than just expanding or improving existing ones.” She explained that designing new roads allows for greater freedom to shape them according to what you want instead of improving upon what someone else has already done.”
Among Terri’s notable professional experience, one stands out as a testament to her expertise and dedication – the KYTC Bridge Project Delivery contract. This contract serves as an extension of the Bridging Kentucky Program with KYTC, a venture Terri was actively involved in before joining PRIME AE. She says, “The program takes all of these bridges that are deficient, and instead of making them go through the normal design and approval process, which could take a year at minimum, they’ve streamlined the process and bundled all of these bridges together; this has cut out a lot of red tape with environmental, Right-of-Way and utilities allowing the program to deliver construction plans much quicker than normal.”
Outside of her professional responsibilities Terri told us that, “One of my favorite things to do is see live music, any sort of live music.” Her taste leans towards classic rock, with the Black Crowes being her favorite band. She also mentioned her admiration for Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Tom Petty, highlighting that she enjoys, “anything my parents listened to.”
