PRIME was authorized by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Little Rock District to prepare a Design-Build Request for Proposal package consisting of preliminary design for the 27,964-square-foot Consolidated Learning Center (CLC) including schematic design of the floor plans and elevations and civil site design. This facility will optimize efficiencies by consolidating critical base support functions while simultaneously eliminating several inefficiencies of the existing substandard, highly scattered facilities.
The CLC at Goodfellow Air Force Base will serve as a centralized community support facility providing administrative and classroom space housing the Education Center, Base Library, and Professional Enhancement Center, all of which are interconnected by common spaces and corridors. The facility will have two points of entry with an administrative desk-counter directly at the center of the lobby. Adjacent to the administration area will be male and female handicapped-accessible restrooms.
This project will also include the construction of sidewalks and utilities, including fire hydrants in accordance with design requirements. The project involves a comprehensive interior design (CID) package for the furniture and equipment requirements and site work including clearing, grubbing, fill material, dewatering, site grading, utility systems, communications and data systems, pavements, and landscaping. After construction of the CLC, demolition and abatement of lead paint and asbestos will be conducted on two existing buildings.
This project is designed to meet green building goals using the USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating system and is seeking the Silver LEED® 3.0 Certification Level.
